Requesting to be a Member at Unity Church of Greater Hartford indicates a definite, considered choice to be an integral part of this Unity church family. It represents a commitment to the manifestation of Unity principles in one's life, and a commitment to share in the joys and responsibilities of creating and maintaining an on-going Unity ministry in the Hartford area.

What It Means to Be a Member
of Unity Church of Greater Hartford

I understand and am aligned with the basic teachings of Unity. As a Member of Unity Church of Greater Hartford, I agree that:

1. I will make my own spiritual development, relationship with God, and study of Unity principles a priority in my life.

2. The Holy Spirit is the true leader of this church. I will do my best to recognize and surrender to the Holy Spirit's direction as I participate in making decisions for the church.

3. I will participate in the creation and maintenance of the kind of church I want. I will include the church in my daily prayer life and in my monthly financial planning. My financial contributions to the church will reflect its importance in my life.

4. I will continue to grow in my knowledge of Unity principles and how to apply them by attending at least one series of Unity classes each year.

5. I will be a regular volunteer in one or more of the church's volunteer ministries.

6. I will speak only with constructive purpose about the church, its leaders, and everyone here. If I have a disagreement with anyone at the church, I will go directly to that person to resolve the issue, asking for help from a minister or other church leader if communication becomes stalled. I will speak TO people rather than ABOUT people.

7. I will extend myself to newcomers at church and to those I do not know.

8. As a way to become more conscious of and to love all parts of myself, I will practice seeing everyone here as a mirror of some part of me.

9. I will attend all membership meetings of the church (they are normally once a year). If! am unable to attend one of these meetings, I will advise the church office of this - by telephone, in writing, or by email- IN ADVANCE OF THE MEETING ..

10. I will familiarize myself with the bylaws of Unity Church of Greater Hartford so I can understand the rights and responsibilities of being a Member of this congregation.

Together with my fellow members, I am co-creating this spiritual community called Unity Church of Greater Hartford. As a result of my commitment, I can expect to receive the following benefits:

· Practice in knowing how to listen to the Voice of the Holy Spirit.
