Sunday’s lesson is

“Putting on Spiritual Armor”

The spiritual power of strength and the physical attribute of strength are not the same. Recognizing the difference is the first step in claiming this important power for ourselves.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

· Singles Group has their monthly meeting this Sun, Feb 7, at 12:15 pm. New people are always welcome.

· Workshops to prepare for the upcoming Volunteer Fair will be held on Thu, Feb 11, and Tue, Feb 16, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Ministry teams and their leaders are invited to attend to put together their displays for the fair. Please let Shirley Smith or Adrienne Reault know which you plan to attend.

· Valentine’s Day Concert on Sun, Feb 14, 7:00 pm, with Paul Feyer, the talented soloists we’ve come to love from Hartt School. The concert takes a look at Love and Relationships through songs from classic and contemporary Broadway and cabaret. The concert will benefit Unity Church of Greater Hartford.

· Yoga for Life has added a second weekly class on Thursdays at 5:30 pm. This is addition to the on-going Monday class. Flyers and the sign-up sheet are in the Community Room.

· New member classes will be held on Tue, Mar 2 and Mar 9, from 7:00 – 8:30 pm. Prospective members are asked to fill out an application and return it to the church office. New members will be welcomed in a ceremony on Sun, Mar 14, during the service.

Thursday, Feb 4

5:30 – 6:30 pm Yoga for Life class with Renée Ulbinsky, RYT. The class is on-going. Come 15 minutes early if this is your first time. Drop in for $8 per class, $30 for 4 classes, $55 for 8 classes.

Saturday, Feb 6

8:00 – 9:00 am Qigong with Beth Hugh; class fee $5.

10:00 am – 12:00 noon 4T Prosperity Program with Rev. Ed Townley.

9:00 pm – The Unity Reiki Team offers free weekly long-distance Reiki sessions. Please submit an e-mail request to reikiteam@unityhartford.com by Saturday at 9:00 pm. List only the first name of the recipient, their location (city or state, or country) and if you wish, a specific reason for the request, such as sinus condition or peace of mind, etc. All information is kept confidential. On Sunday from 9:00 to 9:30 pm, sit or lie quietly if possible and receive the long-distance Reiki.

10:15 – 11:30 am Youth Education Classes

10:30 am Sunday Celebration Service with Rev. Ed Townley.

12:15 pm Singles Group monthly meeting after the service. We will plan activities for the upcoming months and talk about our display for the Volunteer Fair. New people always welcome.

Monday, Feb 8

7:00 – 8:30 pm Abraham Hicks Group with Willie Cancel. We are studying the book “The Vortex”, which focuses on our relationships (most importantly with our own inner being). We will watch DVD’s, CD’s, experience group activities and share amazing personal experiences that come from this work. Love offering accepted.

Wednesday, Feb 10

10:00 – 11:30 am The Third Jesus class with Barbara Schafer, LUT. In his book, “The Third Jesus: The Christ We Cannot Ignore,” Deepak Chopra provides an answer to this question that is both a challenge to current systems of belief and a fresh perspective on what Jesus can teach us all, regardless of our religious background. Come and join our lively discussion of this fascinating book in a safe and loving class led by Barbara Schafer. Love offerings gratefully accepted.

7:00 - 8:30 pm Your Life Is Your Message: Book Study Discussion and Practice with Jim Atwood and Deb Giddings, based on the book by Eknath Easwaran. This book offers a vision of personal growth that brings together the quest for inner fulfillment, the desire to contribute to the world, and the need to enrich personal relationships by showing us how interconnected these three are. A love offering will be taken.

7:00 – 8:30 pm Choir Rehearsal with Paul Feyer.

11:45 am – 1:00 pm Potluck Luncheon & Visioning Workshop. We’ll have a potluck luncheon and Rev. Ed will guide us on looking at the seven areas of ministry in our church, where to grow them, and the support they require. This will help set the direction for the future of Unity of Greater Hartford.

Sunday, Mar 7

11:30 am – 1:00 pm Volunteer Fair. Opportunities abound for being involved at Unity, at whatever level works for you. Come to this festive Volunteer Fair in the Community Room, meet people doing interesting things, contribute ideas for meeting additional needs, and sign up for the team or ministry that calls to you to express your talents.

Tuesday, Mar 2 & Mar 9

7:00 – 8:30 pm New member classes. Prospective members are asked to fill out an application and return it to the church office.

How to Become an Active Member

Unity Church of Greater Hartford will welcome new members in a special ceremony on March 14, 2010. Anyone interested in becoming a member is invited to fill out a Membership Application, available from the church office, and sign up for new member classes. The classes will be held on Tuesday, March 2 and March 9, from 7:00 – 8:30 pm.

In the classes Rev. Ed discusses the basics of Unity belief and the significance of membership in Unity Church of Greater Hartford. Each class includes an open discussion to answer any questions prospective members may have. Rev. Ed notes that the classes are open to everyone, including present members interested in “brushing up” their membership awareness, and others who may not be considering membership at this time.

These classes are required for membership, but exceptions may be made for anyone who has already completed at least one Unity class series. Anyone with questions is invited to phone the office, or to send an email to reved@unityhartford.com.
